Names Wily to List of Top 100 Emerging Companies in 2002
Burlingame, CA - December 19, 2001 - Wily Technology, Inc.
the leader in Java Web Application Management, today announced
that it has been chosen by Computerworld as one
of the Top 100 Emerging Companies for 2002. Computerworld recognized
Wily for IT innovation in the Web Infrastructure, Software
and Management category. Wily's patented performance management
technology ensures the availability of live production Java
Web applications by allowing operations personnel to pinpoint
performance problems before they affect customers.
"In selecting the Computerworld Top 100 Emerging
companies for 2002, the editors and panel members emphasized
innovation," said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of Computerworld. "These
companies are creating products or services that present
a new and creative approach to an IT issue, while demonstrating
that they have the foundation, vision, and strategy to succeed
in the years ahead."
Wily's leadership in performance management software for
Java-based enterprise applications is driven by both its
innovative technology and deep strategic partnerships. Introscope,
Wily's comprehensive performance solution, monitors the performance
of live production Java Web applications, application servers
and back-end systems at the component level and with near-zero
overhead. Without requiring a single change to the code,
Introscope's patented Agent technology can automatically
pinpoint the exact cause of performance bottlenecks whether
an internal Java-based application component or an external
interface such as the security server, database or connector.
BEA, IBM, Hewlett-Packard and iPlanet have each worked closely
with Wily to ensure that Introscope and their own products
are interoperable, making it easier for their enterprise
customers to automatically monitor and manage Java application
deployments. Together these four vendors account for more
than 90 percent of Java application server market (Goldman
Sachs, February 6, 2001).
"We are honored to be recognized by Computerworld for our
innovation and contribution to Java Web application management," said
Dick Williams, President and CEO of Wily Technology. "This
award is a tremendous validation of the commitment we've
made to bringing enterprise class performance management
to the Java platform and the value our solution delivers
to companies that need to ensure the availability of their
mission-critical Java Web applications."
Computerworld Emerging Company Criteria
To select the Top 100 Emerging Companies, a panel of Computerworld
editors and a select group of information technology industry
influencers, representing senior-level executives who are
both providers and users of IT, reviewed nominations from
for-profit ventures with revenue less than $250 million and
founded no earlier than 1996. Of those nominations, a final
list of 100 innovators was chosen based on the following
criteria:
- The company and its technology offer demonstrable value
to corporate IT operations; the product or service addresses
problems or challenges that IT managers face. The company
is innovative; the product or service presents a new and
creative approach to an IT issue and competes in a relatively
new or emerging market; the product or service is viable.
- The company demonstrates positive signs of an ability
to execute its strategy (revenue, revenue growth, funding,
and stable management team).
