Wily Technology
Sees Sales Surge in Third Quarter 2002
Fortune1000 Firms Lead Roster of Organizations Using Wily
Introscope® to Ensure Predictable, Superior Web Experiences
for Customers and Partners
Burlingame, CA - October 28, 2002 - Wily Technology, the
leader in Enterprise Web Application Management, today announced
strong sales growth in Q3 2002, which ended September 30.
Wily's customers, many of them Fortune 1000 companies, have
chosen Introscope to optimize the performance of their mission-critical,
Web applications - thus ensuring a predictably superior user
experience for their customers and trading partners. The
increased demand by both new and existing customers in Q3
resulted in quarterly sales that exceeded the sum of the
prior two quarters. The third quarter's results build on
Wily's success during the first six months of 2002 in which
sales surpassed the full-year totals for 2001.
Demand for Wily continues to accelerate as more organizations
implement customer-facing enterprise Web applications in
which quality of service is closely linked with brand value.
These enterprises realize that fast response and 24x7 availability
are not just technical benchmarks, but strategic business
drivers. In fact, Jupiter Research¹ estimates that,
on average, poor online service will cost an organization
$1.3 million annually in direct revenue and much more in
diminished brand image.
Financial services firms, which compete almost solely on
their customers' service experiences, accounted for nearly
half of all Wily sales in Q3 2002 - extending Wily's market
dominance in the banking, investment banking, consumer credit
and insurance sectors. Key financial services sales in the
third quarter include new customer Meloche Monnex and current
customers Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Northern Trust
Corporation, which have both expanded their use of Wily solutions.
Other Q3 customer wins include Caremark Rx, Inc., the United
States Department of the Treasury, Goodrich Aerospace, Manheim
Interactive, and Waste Management. Additionally, United Healthcare
has extended its use of Wily.
"Our customers are the leaders in their industries
because of their willingness to invest in technologies which
improve the customer experience. The compelling value that
Wily's patented Java application management solution brings
to our enterprise customers is reflected in our continued
sales growth despite today's challenging economic environment," said
Dick Williams, president and CEO of Wily Technology. "From
a technical standpoint, Wily allows organizations to pinpoint
performance issues with precision and eliminate downtime
among the mission-critical Java applications they deploy
to sell products and deliver services. Strategically that
translates into the ability to ensure a superior quality
of service for their customers leading to greater
loyalty, better efficiency, and more revenue opportunities."
Wily Growth Includes International Expansion, New Partner
Solutions
Wily's growing customer base was complemented by the company's
expansion to support international markets. In July, Wily
opened offices in Staines, Middlesex, U.K. and Canberra,
Australia to support customers in Europe, Middle East and
Africa (EMEA) and the Asia-Pacific region, respectively.
Wily also furthered its strategic partnerships with BEA
and IBM, delivering new solutions to support the companies'
industry-leading Web application servers. On September 9,
Wily introduced Introscope® PowerPack for BEA WebLogic® Server
7.0, the newest addition to its comprehensive solution
suite for the BEA WebLogic® Platform, as well as
direct integration with the BEA WebLogic® JRockit server-centric
Java Virtual Machine (JVM). On October 7, Wily announced
that it has further extended its ability to monitor mainframe
Java applications with the addition of Introscope® PowerPack for
IBM WebSphere® for z/OS® and OS/390®. Wily also
announced that IBM has selected Introscope for inclusion
in SystemPac, IBM's system replacement vehicle for z/OS,
z/OS.e, and OS/390.
Wily Enterprise Web Application Management Solutions
The Wily family of enterprise Web application management
solutions includes Wily's Introscope and Introscope PowerPacks.
Introscope is the first complete management solution to offer
a Whole Application View into Java Web applications,
application servers and Java-connected back-end systems.
Introscope PowerPacks are extensions to Introscope that monitor
key systems such as transaction servers, databases and Java
connectors, while fully integrating real-time application
performance data with existing system management frameworks.
Built on Wily's patented agent technology, Wily's solutions
deliver unparalleled visibility across the entire Java application
and application server platform to quickly pinpoint performance
problems. As a result, customers are able to identify performance
problems within hours or days that previously would have
taken weeks or even months to find. These organizations can
ensure the high availability and performance their customers
demand from production applications and roll out new customer-ready
applications more quickly.
Wily has established close partnerships with BEA, Hewlett-Packard,
IBM, and Sun Microsystems which have all integrated Wily's
AutoProbe interface, so that applications built on these
platforms can be automatically monitored for performance
issues - without any changes to the application code.
