today that Gartner, Inc. has positioned it in the leader
quadrant in the J2EE Application Server Management Magic
Quadrant, published on May 6, 2003. Gartner, Inc.'s Magic
Quadrant positions vendors in a particular market segment
based on their vision and ability to execute that vision.
According to Gartner, Inc., leaders are vendors who are performing
well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are
actively building competencies to sustain their leadership
position in the market.
Within the J2EE Application Server Management Magic Quadrant,
characteristics of companies in the leader quadrant include
extensive management visibility, advanced functionality,
increasing ease-of-use features, broad support for a wide
range of J2EE offerings as well as operating systems. Other
factors are leadership in terms of installed base and customer
satisfaction.
The J2EE Application Server Management Magic Quadrant is
one of a series of Gartner reports in 2003 that highlight
the growing demand for solutions to manage Web application
performance.
"With the increasing adoption of e-business applications,
a need emerged for management of the end-to-end application
platform stack," Gartner noted in its "Application
Management Key Issues" report, published January 13,
2003. The report adds, "Because of the increasing complexity
in this area, there is an even-greater need for more management
depth in key areas, particularly in application servers based
on Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition and .NET."
