Wily Technology
Adds Application Management Support for HP NonStop Platform
Wily Provides the Highest Levels of Availability and Performance
for Java Running on HP NonStop Server
Brisbane, CA — May 18, 2004 — Wily Technology,
the leader in enterprise application management, today announced
it has extended its market-leading application management
tools to support Java applications running on HP NonStop
servers. Introscope® 5.0, cornerstone of the Wily family
of products for monitoring and managing mission-critical
applications, will enable HP customers to achieve the highest
levels of availability and performance for Java applications
running on HP NonStop servers.
According to market research firm Dataquest, it is estimated
that today over one-third of worldwide businesses run 24x7,
and the number of businesses running 24x7 will grow to about
60% over the next few years. Additionally, the growing number
of Java and J2EE applications in production environments
dramatically increases the need to manage and monitor complex
and integrated applications, especially on high-availability
hardware platforms designed for 24x7 operations.
Wily's patented Introscope® is the industry's only application
management solution that enables enterprises to keep their
Java applications high-performing and available 24x7, without
compromising performance. Wily uniquely provides component-level
visibility across the entire application environment to accurately
identify bottlenecks, rapidly resolve and triage problems
before customers are impacted and meet performance and business
goals. HP NonStop servers are designed for continuous availability
and scalability and are selected for mission-critical applications
in financial, telco, government, healthcare, supply chain
and e-business environments.
"Expectations in the global, always-on economy are
that applications are available 24x7, not just the traditional
business hours. Enterprises must take availability and performance
of mission-critical applications seriously or risk losing
revenue, customers or trading partners," said Kent Smith,
senior vice president of field operations at Wily Technology,
Inc. "Wily's support for the NonStop platform provides
a very strong high-availability solution for customers deploying
and managing mission-critical, large-scale applications such
as electronic funds networks, securities and commodities
exchanges and wireless and wireline networks."
According to a recent Wily Benchmark Survey of J2EE Application
Performance and Availability, results showed that even in
today's competitive 24x7 economy, applications availability
reported averages only 88%. The finding suggests that on
average, companies are losing over 20 hours, or nearly one
full day per week, of availability. This demonstrates that
there is a fundamental need for organizations to invest in
three areas: structured management processes to triage and
resolve problems; dedicated application management resources;
and better tools to enable real time monitoring and rapid
problem isolation.
"With the high cost of downtime for large-scale, mission-critical
applications such as those running on NonStop servers, performance
management tools are of paramount importance," said
Chris Rooke, vice president, NonStop Solutions Marketing,
HP. "Wily's application management software simplifies
managing Java applications in mission-critical environments.
Wily is providing with HP a solid solution that is making
the software as highly-available and scalable as the hardware."
