Leading High-Street
Retailer Leverages Wily for Customer Service Transformation
John Lewis Deploys Wily Monitoring Technology
To Anticipate Application Problems and Ensure 100% Uptime
For Customers
Brisbane, CA - August 17, 2004 - Wily Technology, the leader
in enterprise application management, today announced that
the John Lewis Partnership, the UK high-street retailer,
has selected Wily to help monitor and act on potential issues
with its customer service and stock monitoring applications,
before they impact performance. Wily's Introscope® is
the latest edition of the first and most successful tool
for managing J2EE applications built on Java application
server platforms.
Introscope is now tasked with overseeing the majority of
the Java applications operating on the John Lewis infrastructure.
These applications carry out such tasks as checking stock
levels for shop floor staff, or taking orders at point of
sale. Wily's Introscope technology will ensure these applications
are running at maximum speed and availability - ensuring
a seamless customer experience - and predict any problems
before they arise. In the long term, the investment will
allow John Lewis' development staff to focus on development
projects, rather than on basic manual application support.
The company, which runs a Linux infrastructure on its IBM
Z990 Mainframe, is increasing its use of Java applications
considerably, requiring a system to be put in place to manage
and monitor them.
"Previously, we were reactive. Our existing set of
management tools informed us when performance had already
degraded," said Nigel Randall, Middleware Systems Manager
at the John Lewis Partnership. "Introscope alerts us
to certain issues before service is impacted, in the same
way a car dashboard does for an engine. With Introscope in
place, we can now take proactive steps to avoid any downtime."
Introscope is an enterprise application management solution
that helps organizations ensure the performance and availability
of their mission-critical applications and supporting systems.
Introscope is the only platform-independent Java management
solution that is fully compatible with any Java environment.
With new fast-path navigation, Introscope customers can have
intuitive dashboards, which allow them to isolate problems
even more rapidly by simply clicking on customized dashboard
links. This allows both expert and non-expert users to more
easily determine the source of performance issues throughout
the J2EE application architecture.
"Wily's solutions provide real-time visibility into
the performance and availability of critical Web applications
and infrastructure systems," said Roger Andrews, VP
EMEA at Wily Technology. "By enabling the enterprise
IT staff to monitor, improve and manage enterprise Web applications
in each stage of the application lifecycle, we're making
it far easier for IT departments to analyze activity on their
networks, and manage them to support business objectives.
This is what technology is all about in 2004 - not bits and
bytes, but real business benefits."
