September 5, 2006 — CA (NYSE: CA) today announced that the Generali group, a worldwide insurance leader, has implemented Introscope from CA's Wily Technology Division to monitor and manage the performance of its mission-critical Web applications in France. The Generali group is a world leader in insurance with 65 000 employees in 183 companies, operating in 45 countries. At the company's web presence expanded to meet demand and offer new services, Generali's Web applications became more complex and began to experience performance issues. Due to the popularity of Generali's web applications, downtime or application failures became a significant risk to the business. Generali needed an application management solution would provide end-to-end, proactive monitoring of production applications, enabling IT staff at Generali to identify performance incidents and conduct real-time analysis of application problems.
Generali selected Introscope in 2005 from CA's Wily Technology division to help manage application performance. Working with Wily professional services, Generali implemented Introscope and began collecting valuable performance metrics for its mission-critical broker and agent subscription applications in only 2 hours.
"It was impossible to peer inside Java applications due to the lack of monitoring tools which would have enabled us to identify the errors," said Florian Cheval, Systems Engineer at Generali. "Introscope's quick deployment, simple configuration and attractive cost won us over from its competitors. Introscope's technology stands head and shoulders above other solutions of the same type."
Organizations such as Generali rely on Introscope to monitor and diagnose the performance and availability of mission-critical applications. Introscope quickly identifies application errors and provides real-time diagnostics to help IT staff identify the source of the problem and eliminate it before it impacts end-user satisfaction.

Prior to Introscope, some revenue generating applications were experience poor performance for dozens of minutes every day. With Introscope, in nearly 90% of cases when a problem occurs, Generali is aware of the application failure before any end-users or customers are affected.
"Introscope gave us a real return on investment in under six months. Thanks to Introscope, application errors are highlighted in real-time so we can rapidly correct application issues without compromising uptime or availability," continued Florian Cheval, Systems Engineer at Generali. "Our success with Introscope has helped Generali reduce downtime, improve capacity planning and assure customer satisfaction."
