September 14, 2006 — CA (NYSE: CA) today announced that esure, one of the UK's fastest growing insurance companies, has deployed Introscope from CA's Wily Technology Division to help ensure the performance and 24x7 availability of the applications it uses to deliver customer services both online and via its call centre.
In the fiercely competitive and price sensitive home and car insurance markets, the delivery of excellent customer service with continuous innovation is a core component of esure's business strategy. Florent Duchateau, Web Support Manager, esure, says, "There is a significant business cost in brand damage and lost customers associated with poor performance. However good the price on offer, if the website is too slow or unusable, customers will go elsewhere. Duchateau continues, "esure undertook a very thorough review of performance monitoring software tools that included benchmarks and assessments, prototypes and installation. Introscope was also the only product to offer monitoring on platforms outside the standard BEA WebLogic and IBM Websphere environments. While the majority of esure's systems are developed in WebLogic, the company also uses Resin from Caucho Technology to manage dynamic web site content. "Introscope is compatible with any J2EE system. This provides far more flexibility in web development, which is crucial in an innovative business environment," said Duchateau.
esure uses Introscope in both production and pre-production across its complex Service Oriented Architecture environment. The speed with which pre-production problems can be assessed ensures innovative applications and services can be consistently delivered on time.
Introscope provides esure with proactive application management through customizable dashboards that present different views of system performance, and real-time alerts via email and SMS that are triggered anytime application performance begins to decline. Introscope's real-time monitoring provide a valuable early warning system to esure and represents a significant improvement over the home-grown monitoring solution the company previously relied on.
"Combining service based views on Introscope dashboards, with SMS messaging to raise alerts of any performance problems outside office hours, will bypass the web script process, enabling esure to react within minutes and minimise performance issues that can affect the business," explains Duchateau.
