Introscope® Feature:
Environment Performance Agent (EPA™)
Today's J2EE application environments are complex and diverse.
Most employ a combination of commercial off-the-shelf and
home-grown application subsystems. And even off-the-shelf software
can be configured
and used in unique ways. In other words, each customer has
some unique aspect to its application environment. To effectively
manage
the "whole application," it's critical that all aspects
of the application environment be monitored for performance
and availability.
The problem has been how to integrate data from
such diverse
Java and non-Java environments using one J2EE application
performance tool.
The solution is the Environmental Performance Agent feature
of Introscope® or EPA™. This Wily feature allows customers
to quickly and easily adapt Introscope to monitor virtually
any type of application
subsystem. And customers can do this work with skills they
already have. By developing simple programs or interpreted
scripts in virtually
any language familiar to them, customers can gather monitoring
information from a wide variety of application components
such as web servers,
directory servers, operating systems, and databases, for
display alongside the Java metrics in the Introscope Workstation.
EPA is
provided with a library of sample Perl scripts to use as
is, or extend for your specific needs. Other script environments
such as
C Shell, KornShell, Bornshell, can be substituted for Perl.
EPA is bundled with Introscope. |
